Mandarin is the official language of China and is increasingly used in business and education. It may be more beneficial if you plan to travel or work in mainland China. With more people and companies moving to Hong Kong, Mandarin has also become more widely used there.
Cantonese, on the other hand, is the primary language spoken in Hong Kong, making it essential for daily interactions and cultural immersion. Learning Cantonese can help you connect with locals and better understand the culture. If you're interested in the local way of life, Cantonese might be the better choice.
Some students at Mandarin Channel School take both Mandarin and Cantonese classes simultaneously, which can help them learn both languages more efficiently.
Our students are from different cultural backgrounds and industries. You will be studying with students of your level. Since we offer a FREE placement test for non-beginners before they join classes.
The HSK is the standardized Chinese proficiency test for non-native speakers. Signing up for the HSK is optional but can be a helpful benchmark for your Mandarin progress.
Mandarin Channel School also offers HSK mock courses as well as several learning materials to provide students with pre-test help, training and guidance for the HSK exam.
Most beginner classes have no prerequisites. Students can start face to face classes at our Central campus anytime. For Intermediate and advanced level students, a placement test will be conducted before joining the group.
Teachers assign homework based on the curriculum. This may include workbook exercises, topic-based speaking practice, or review materials from our online library.
If you would like to get a HSK exam certificate, you need to register and pass the HSK exam. Mandarin Channel School will offer certificates upon completion to prove your learning experience.
Both group and private Mandarin lessons have their advantages.
Group classes are more cost-effective, and students can learn Mandarin in small groups. Private classes have more flexible schedules, and the learning content will be customized so it can help you progress faster by addressing your specific weaknesses and goals.
All the teachers are native speakers who hold a degree in TCFL, Language, Broadcasting, or related majors. An average 7 YEARS of teaching experience teachers provide Chinese teaching to students from an array of culture, languages, and background. We will share the teacher’s qualifications with students before making a decision.
Typically, our group classes concentrate on conversational practice. However, we provide students with Chinese characters to practice independently for greater efficiency. In private classes, the learning content can be tailored to individual needs, allowing teachers to assist students who wish to learn characters.

Mandarin Channel School Kids & Teens Course
Of course! Mandarin Channel School teachers are originally from many regions in Mainland China, meanwhile, teachers are required to have the Putonghua proficiency certificate issued by the National Language Commission with a minimum of Grade 2A
Of course! We will arrange a suitable teacher for students based on their studying backgrounds, learning goals, and classes’ locations to have a 30-minute trial lesson with your kid(s) to experience our classes’ environment and teaching styles.
We teach both Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. The textbook <Chinese Made Easy> we follow is published both versions.
All Mandarin Channel School teachers are all hold qualifications which range from Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language, Broadcasting, Early Childhood Education, as well as other related fields. Average 7 YEARS of teaching experience teachers provide Chinese teaching to students from an array of culture, languages, and background
Firstly, we will get students basic learning information to recommend the class type and arrange a FREE placement test to understand more about students’ current levels. Then, students will have a 20-minute FREE trial lesson to see how they like the teacher.
